On
Wednesday 23rd, I had my first class experience with English access
program and let me tell you that it is an excellent group; I really like it
because they participate a lot and they always speak in English and that’s very
nice because they can practice and learn more the language.
First,
I started the class with the warm up activity and I gave them a piece of paper
in which they had to write a list of things they usually buy when they go
shopping. Then, students shared their answers. After that, I pasted a chart on the
board, and students discussed with their partners some questions, such as: Do
you like to go shopping? What kind of things do you like to buy? What makes
shopping fun (or not fun)? When was the last time you went shopping? What did
you buy? Why did you buy it? And so on. Then, I showed them some pictures to
talk about what makes them want to buy something because that was the name of
the unit.
After
that, we worked in some exercises from the book. The first one was a questionnaire
about their recent shopping. Then, they read a short article, and
they identified and talked about what kind of shoppers they are. The last activity was a vocabulary exercise from
reading 1, so they had to underline the answer the best matches the meaning
according to the sentences. Well, in general I really liked the class and I
hope to continue doing my best.
