My third class experience…

On Monday 11, I had my last class experience with English Access Program. First, I started the class with a warm-up activity that is called “Don’t say YES or NO”. In this activity students asked different questions to each other but they had to avoid saying Yes or No, and if they said those words they had to give a piece of paper to that person.

After that, I made a speaking activity related to a reading from the book and I pasted a chart on the board so that students could talk about it. In this activity students worked in groups of four to discuss the questions. And then, they shared their answers in the class. Then, I gave them a True-false activity according to the reading.

And at the end, students worked in the book in some activities so that they could understand better the article. In the first one, they discussed the main ideas from the reading. Finally, they gave their points of view according to the article and shared some personal experiences in the group work.

Well, in general I can say that I feel really happy because of all the experience that I gained while I was teaching; I learned a lot of things and also from the teachers’ feedback. I consider that this teaching practicum at the end was very meaningful for all of us. So, I just want to say thanks God and teacher for everything, and all of you classmates for your comments. BLESSINGS ;-)

My second class experience…

On Monday 4, I had my second class experience with English access program. First, I started the class with a warm-up activity called “pass the ball” and the person who got the ball had to answer the following question: what did you use to do when you were a child?

Then, Students discussed in pairs some questions related to the unit such as; what did you use to play when you were a child? What kind of programs did you use to watch? And so on. After that, students worked in groups of four and they had to pass a bond paper and each of them had to write a list of things they learned when they were children, for example: When we were a child we learned: To respect others, to say “please” when we need something, etc. In this activity they participated a lot and at the end they chose a representative for each group to read the list.

At the end, students worked in the book and they answered a survey that was there, and then they shared the information about their classmates. I really liked this class more than the previous one because of the activities that I developed with them and also because they participated a lot in each activity.

My first class experience…

On Wednesday 23rd, I had my first class experience with English access program and let me tell you that it is an excellent group; I really like it because they participate a lot and they always speak in English and that’s very nice because they can practice and learn more the language.

First, I started the class with the warm up activity and I gave them a piece of paper in which they had to write a list of things they usually buy when they go shopping. Then, students shared their answers. After that, I pasted a chart on the board, and students discussed with their partners some questions, such as: Do you like to go shopping? What kind of things do you like to buy? What makes shopping fun (or not fun)? When was the last time you went shopping? What did you buy? Why did you buy it? And so on. Then, I showed them some pictures to talk about what makes them want to buy something because that was the name of the unit.

After that, we worked in some exercises from the book. The first one was a questionnaire about their recent shopping. Then, they read a short article, and they identified and talked about what kind of shoppers they are.  The last activity was a vocabulary exercise from reading 1, so they had to underline the answer the best matches the meaning according to the sentences. Well, in general I really liked the class and I hope to continue doing my best.

My Third class experience...

On Wednesday 25th, I had my last class experience with Intermediate level. Well, for the warm up activity I made two groups and then, I gave the students some phrasal verbs.  First, I read them the meaning and students had to choose the correct phrasal verb and paste it on the board, and the group who got more points was the winner.
Well, in this class I developed a lot of exercises so that students could practice more about phrasal verbs. The first one was a true- false activity. The second one was a matching activity. After that, I checked students' answer.
Then, I gave them a reading in which students had to identify all the phrasal verbs. The fourth one was a fill in the blank activity and the last one was a speaking activity and I included questions such as, what time do you get up at the weekend? How often do you eat out? How long does it take you to get ready to leave in the morning? When was the last time you got into trouble? What happened? What do you think is the best age to get married? Why? And so on. In general, I really liked this group because students participated a lot in all the activities.

My Second class experience....

On Wednesday 18th, I had my second class experience with Intermediate level. First, I started the class with a warm up and it was a scrambled activity about comparative and superlative adjectives. After that, I checked students’ answer orally.
In this class, I developed some written exercises and in the first activity the students had to underline the correct comparative or superlative adjective according to the sentences. The second one was a fill in the blank activity; and in the third one the students had to write an appropriate comparative or superlative adjective according to the sentences.
At the end, I developed a speaking activity and it was an interview in which students’ had to answer questions such as, who is the oldest/ youngest/ friendliest/ funniest person in your family?  Who do you think is the most talkative/ hardworking/ quietest student in the classroom? Who do you think is the best soccer player around the world? Why? Who do you think is the most beautiful celebrity? Why? What do you think about living in the countryside or the city? Which one do you prefer and why?
In general, this was a nice class because students participated a lot in all the activities, specially; the teacher and the students enjoyed a lot the last communicative activity because students were very excited telling me the answer.  And I think that it is really important so that they can practice the language.
