My Second class experience...

On Tuesday 8th, I had my second class experience with advanced level. First, I started the class a warm-up and it was a fill in the blanks activity. I gave students a short reading about “traditional family” in which they had to complete it with words from the box.

After that, students worked in pairs and they discussed about the generations that are alive in their families. Then, I read them a short paragraph “The Guinness Record” about family generations. At the end, I discussed with them as a whole class about what they thought about the article.

Then, I wrote “Generation Gap” on the board and had students brainstorm ideas about it. Later, I asked them to write a short definition of what they thought the phrase means. After that, we discussed about it and then I gave them another definition.

After that, I made a speaking activity in groups of three. First, I dictated them some questions and the students discussed few of them, such as: Have you ever felt a generation gap with your friends? How does a generation gap affect interaction between two people? And so on.

The last activity was a listening, and students worked in some exercises from the book related to the listening. The first one was a true-false activity, and in the last one student had to write a number with the correct order of the story. Then, I checked student’s answers.

Well, this time I felt more comfortable working with this group because most of them participated a lot. The only problem was that when I was going to work in some activities, I realized students didn’t have the material. So, I had to improvise and read the paragraph so that students could discuss about it. And in the speaking activity, the teacher did not let me to develop the activity as I wanted; he told me that I didn’t have too much time. That’s why students did not have time to speak too much. I didn’t feel well because of that, but I hope the class be different next time.

  1. Hello my friend Verito!
The same thing happened to me with the material that ss should have taken to the class to work with. Fortunately, I took some cophies of the material so that ss could work with it in pairs, just in case, and I actually used it because they didn't take it.
On the other hand, It's nice to read that you felt confortable working with this group because they were very participative. It feels nice when a group cooperate with your job, isn't it?
Finally, congratulations because you developed many and different activities, I'm sure that's why ss were interested in the class and so participative. :)

  2. hy Vero, i love the way you add different activities to your class because students not only practice writing or listening but the rest of the skils in a single period of time!! that´s great from you, and that shows that you are a good teacher, keep like that!!

    blessings!! :)

  3. Hello Vero!!!!
I can see that you enjyoed your class, I like the varitey of activities you developed. You tried to address their learning styles. Unfortunately time is our enemy and it does not help us to develop all the activities we have planned.
