My Third Class…

On Friday 16th, I had my last class with advanced group and I really enjoyed this class more than the previous ones because students participated a lot. First, I made a warm up activity and it was a review of the previous class. I made some questions such as, what topic did you study yesterday? What is reported speech? And so on.

After that, I explained them the grammar part about imperatives and request, and reporting verbs.  I used some charts to explain the information, and I provided students some examples according to it. At the end, I gave them a fill in the blanks activity and I gave them a lot of time to develop this exercise because it had a lot of sentences. Then, I checked students’ answers orally.

Something that didn’t go so well was that when I was explaining the grammar part some students ask me questions about it, and one student asked me a tricky question; and in that moment I got nervous and I didn’t know what to say, but then I tried to give an answer but I was not sure. So, I have learned that as teachers we must read and investigate a lot regarding any topic we are going to teach because only in that way we are going to give a right answer in case students have any doubt.

In the feedback, the teacher told me he really liked the way I taught the grammar part, and he also told me that he liked the way I interacted and monitored the students. In general, I feel very happy because I tried to do my best in every class, but I know I still need to improve some things.

  1. Hi,Vero. I like the way you elicited information with that kind of questions. Students like to answer because they enjoy showing their speaking skills.Checking student´s answers orally is also a good opportunity to observe their progress in speaking.
